Registered Nurse (RN) | Oncology Location: Denver, CO Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $1,741 per week Shift Information: Nights - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: ASAP About the Position Job Title: RN - Oncology Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Oncology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Active RN License Certifications: Chemo and biotherapy certification preferred Must-Have: Compassionate approach to the oncology patient population and chronic patients. Quick learner. Description: Travel position for an RN in the oncology specialty. This role is located in a blood cancer unit. The unit consists of 18 beds and a staff of 37. Staff includes a charge nurse without patient assignments, 3-5 RNs, and 1 CNA on night shift. Patient ratios are 3-4 patients per nurse. Equipment used includes telemetry, bladder scanners, Alaris pumps, and Alaris PCA. The electronic medical record system is Meditech. Candidates without the necessary skills will not be considered for this role. Preferred qualifications include experience with chemotherapy and biotherapy, as well as step-down experience. On this unit, common procedures include lumbar punctures and bone marrow biopsies with or without conscious sedation, as well as thoracentesis. A good personality fit is someone who is compassionate and adaptable. The unit is known for administering a lot of medications, blood, and electrolyte replacements. Education is provided for handling hazardous drugs and patient excreta.
