Job Description American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN ICU - Intensive Care Unit Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: ICU - Intensive Care Unit - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 02/02/2026 - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, days - Employment Type: Travel /n Job Description/n American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Float Pool ICU position in Colorado requiring a compact or CO RN license and ICU expertise. /n /n Responsibilities/n - Float Pool ICU position serving multiple hospitals across a 60-mile radius in Zone 1 based in Colorado Springs - Work setting combines MICU, SICU, TICU, and CVICU in acute care environments - Nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1:1-2 based on acuity, with possible flex up to 1:3 - Care for a diverse adult ICU population with critical care needs including management of CRRT, IABP, Impella, pressors, and advanced drips - RNs are expected to read and interpret their own telemetry - Shift is days, 12 hours, with 6-9 weekend shifts in a 6 week schedule - Travelers are assigned to float to various facilities without a home base and may float between ICU, PCU/Stepdown, and MS-Tele units - Uses Epic EMR; Epic experience required for first-time travelers - Designated charge nurses do not typically take assignments except as needed - RNs are expected to assist with respiratory needs and manage ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow systems - No monitor techs are present; RNs read all their own strips - No nurse aides are available except when a sitter is needed - Orientation includes 1-2 days with a preceptor and requires being on-site for at least the orientation week - All requested time off must be submitted prior to starting the assignment - Travelers may be included in the holiday rotation - Any scrub color is acceptable - Rare call requirement, primarily for low census situations - Returning candidates may not have been employed in any CommonSpirit facility within the past year /n /n Requirements/n - Active CO or compact RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted - Minimum 2 years recent ICU experience required; first-time travelers must have 3 years ICU experience and prior Epic experience - Current certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), NIHSS; TNCC preferred - Comfortable titrating all critical drips including pressors, sedation, paralytics, antiarrhythmics, and insulin - Must reside more than 60 miles from the float zone city center - Copy of driver’s license must be provided - Two professional references required: one supervisor reference from the past 12 months, and one peer or supervisor reference from the last 3 years, both with employment dates and rehire eligibility /n Benefits/n - High Pay and Bonuses - Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options - 401(k) Plan - Weekly Payroll Deposit - Free Online CEUs - Generous Housing Allowance - Travel and Licensure Reimbursements - Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy - Traveler Rewards and Discounts /n American Traveler Job ID P-657948.
