Pathologist (SLP) Role at Our Organization: The Speech Language
Pathologist (SLP) delivers direct rehabilitation services in speech
therapy to patients based on referrals from physicians, ensuring
adherence to all relevant laws and professional standards. This
position necessitates a graduate degree from an accredited
institution, ASHA certification or eligibility, and a valid state
license. Key skills include patient evaluation, treatment planning,
and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams. Responsibilities
encompass assessing patient progress, documenting therapy sessions,
ensuring safety, and upholding ethical standards in a post-acute
care setting. Position Overview The Speech Language Pathologist
(SLP) is responsible for providing direct speech therapy
rehabilitation services to patients referred by physicians, in
compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and organizational
standards. Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements
Graduation from an accredited speech therapy program (minimum MS or
MA in SLP). ASHA certification (CCCs) or eligibility for a 9-month
Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) to obtain ASHA certification (CCCs)
and/or meet ASHA credentialing criteria. Once obtained, ASHA
credentialing must be maintained. Active registration/licensure in
the relevant state, with a requirement to keep the license in good
standing throughout employment. Preferred one (1) year of
experience in a post-acute care or similar environment. CPR
certification required upon hire or to be obtained during
orientation, with the necessity to keep it current throughout
employment. Specific Job Responsibilities Engage in community
health initiatives and projects as appropriate. Proficient in
Microsoft Word, Excel, and email communication. Collaborate with
patients, families, and support departments to effectively address
patient needs. Exhibit proper body mechanics consistently.
Demonstrate the ability to make independent decisions when
necessary. Familiarity with practices, procedures, and regulations
governing operations in a post-acute care facility. Implement and
interpret departmental programs, goals, objectives, policies, and
procedures. Perform competently in all areas, including patient
rights, safety, and sanitation. Maintain professional relationships
with colleagues, vendors, and others. Safeguard the confidentiality
of all proprietary and sensitive information. Comply with
organizational policies, including those related to harassment and
compliance. Exhibit integrity and professionalism by adhering to
the organization's Code of Conduct and completing required
compliance training. Essential Functions Establish, evaluate, and
adjust realistic, measurable, timely, and functional goals. (SLP
CCC only) Oversee and assess care provided by SLP CFYs. (SLP CFY
only) Follow speech therapy treatment plans under the supervision
of the SLP CCC, adhering to federal and state guidelines. Document
therapy sessions accurately and promptly. Utilize therapy software
effectively and accurately. Provide excellent customer service and
maintain a positive attitude towards patients. Assist in the safe
evacuation of patients when necessary. Demonstrate reliable and
consistent attendance. Employ reasoning skills and sound judgment
in decision-making. Communicate effectively and collaborate within
an interdisciplinary team. Engage in various physical activities
such as sitting, standing, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling,
stooping, walking, reaching, and moving intermittently during work
hours. Read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language
