JOB SUMMARY
Under moderate supervision, provides technical support to field engineers, technicians, and product support personnel who are diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical/mechanical equipment.
Responds to situations where first-line product support is required to isolate or fix advanced problems in malfunctioning equipment. Ensure contractors follow established policies for safe work practices to safeguard critical systems. Write Method of Procedure to be used to outline workflow processes.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Actively and consistently supports all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.

  • Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience
  • Write Method of Procedure (MOP) outlining workflow process to protect personnel, equipment and customer availability to be peer reviewed by Engineer III before implementation
  • Troubleshoot advanced electrical/mechanical systems and related devices such as large frame breakers, medium voltage stitchgear, thermal storage tank recharge, chiller systems operations, Static Transfer Switches (STS), power generation and distribution
  • Performs on-site installation, preventive maintenance, repair and calibration on electrical and mechanical systems in a raised floor data center environment
  • Inspect and test mechanical and electrical equipment; chillers, CRAH's, pumping, fire alarm, motor control, lighting, signal, communication and power circuits
  • Ensure successful operation of all electrical/mechanical systems, including; UPS, generator, chiller plant and HVAC distribution
  • Reports design, reliability and maintenance problems
  • Ensure all mechanical and electrical systems are in compliance with the building codes and all other applicable laws, codes, rules and regulations
  • Assists in the repair and replacement of mechanical devices such as valves, motors, controls, switches, gauges, wiring, fans, pumps, compressors, condensers and piping, including other duties as assigned
  • Oversee contractors to ensure safe work practices to protect critical systems and verify adherence to Method of Procedure (MOP) outlined in the scope of work and confirm their craftsmanship meets or exceeds Charter expectations
    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
    Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Knowledge of IEE, NFPA, NEC, IMC, UMC, IPC and UPC mechanical and electrical codes and best practices associated with the operation, repair and maintenance of each system
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and strong collaboration skills
  • Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills are required
  • Ability to perform under pressure and utilize command skills is a must
  • Ability to interrupt blueprints and specification documents
  • Ability to troubleshoot advanced electrical / mechanical systems and related devices
  • General knowledge of mechanical and electrical codes and practices associated with the operation, repair and maintenance of each discipline
  • Ability to complete documentation accurately, shall be proficient with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical codes and best practices associated with the operation, repair and maintenance of each system
  • Knowledge of chillers, pumping, building controls, UPS, generator, controls and electrical distribution systems.
    Education
    High school diploma or general education degree (GED), and Three years related experience and/or training; or combination of education and related work experience.

    5 years Predictive Maintenance
    3 years Vibration Analysis and infrared
    5 years Building Management System or Energy Power Management Systems
    5 years Data Center Experience

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
    Education
    Technical licenses in electrical or mechanical field
    Predictive maintenance certifications

    WORKING CONDITIONS
    Must be able to lift frequently and carry heavy objects, climb ladders, stoop, kneel or bend to perform duties in various types of weather
    Work scheduled may be adjusted to meet business needs
